Cybercriminals are using more sophisticated techniques than ever to attack e-commerce, global trade and digital communication including text, email and social media. Cybersecurity focuses on ways to minimize the risks of cyber theft and terrorist attacks through mitigation and prevention of online threats.

Island Coast High School Cyber Security Academy is a comprehensive four-year program where students participate in hands-on learning activities, simulations, and competitions designed to prepare them for a career in cybersecurity. They leave with knowledge and skills in computer maintenance and repair, the cybersecurity life cycle, incident handling and networking. Students are prepared to take certification exams for CompTIA’s ITF+, A+ and Networking +, the gateway certifications for careers in IT and Cybersecurity.

Digital Design at Island Coast includes a progression through four courses aimed at providing students with opportunities to learn design skills and concepts through real world applications. Students become familiar with industry standard software and equipment, creating a variety of design projects for screen and print, while developing 21st century skills that promote college and career readiness. For students who do not plan on pursuing a career in design, digital design coursework also provides opportunities for development of soft skills and knowledge that are applicable in other fields and subject areas. Digital design students may also obtain industry certifications in Adobe products and provide design services to the school and community, strengthening their understanding of digital design through authentic experience.
